Creative Spotlight Film Series - Syracuse University Blackstone LaunchPad: Allie Westbrook
This film was produced, directed, and shot by Zain Elwakil for the Blackstone LaunchPad at Syracuse University. Zain received a grant in order to produce this film series for the 2020-2021 academic year. Allie Westbrook was the first subject in the series. She is a singer, songwriter, and producer, and shares her song "Flowers in the Attic" with us in this project. The series seeks to allow creative entrepreneurs to tell their stories, while highlighting the unique talent and art that they produce. The project was divided into two segments, one being an acoustic music video for the piece, and a longer spotlight documentary that sought to allow the vision and story behind the creation of the song come through. Allie opens up about her thought process, and her relationship with mental health and personal growth as a young emerging artist.
